Cyber Monday

Published November 29, 2011 by Sara

I have never before shopped online on this day, and this being the first one. I didn’t hit up too many, but didn’t know who was having what.

So I just winged it. I finally ordered Gwen a digital camera, which am sure she will love. Its 16mp, 7x optical zoom (I’m already drooling at the zoom.) And it has a 3” screen. So lucky! But the camera was quite he find to.

Purchased some gift cards for Marcus, which doing this on Monday versus Friday, get double the coupons. 2 Bogo’s on admission for each GC purchased and then we the Frosty Flicks coupons as well. It basically pays from itself after we use the regular admission coupons.

Then I ordered from Think Geek, which that was not expected to do today, by not sure what made me check out their site and here the had free shipping. Sweet!!!

I was going to order our State Fair Tickets, but the deal will come again. Same with this one desk I was looking at. Was reading reviews and it appears to be going on sale a lot, so I will wait. Its glass top, so this would be perfect for me. Any spills of epoxy, glue, it will be much easier to clean up. Plus it’s an L shape desk, which is exactly what I need to give me some room! But it can wait….I rather wait being as we have a lot of bills coming up … insurance, car insurance, water bill, and her soon, my first electric bill from upstairs. I’m nervous to see what that will be, since I have been stingy with turning te heat on. I’ll let it run once or twice in the morning just to take the chill out and then I am fine. Was getting spoiled with that nice weather, but ah well, it looks to be leaving us…..

Holy Savings!!

Did some little shopping yesterday and got some KILLER deals! Three 45 oz. bottles of Arm & Hammer laundry soap and one 55 oz powder for $2, Free Travel Size Colgate Optic White, $2 Wall-E Vitamins, .50 cents Skintimates Shaving Cream, $1.99 Schick Quattro Razor with 4 refills, another one @ 3.99. Helll Yeahh!! (Adam Sandler in Chuck and Larry) LOL

But I know I was missing some coupons and I was frustrated trying to look through my binder, which is on it’s way to being organized. Well, when I finally got the family fed. I sat down and organized the last of my loose coupons, used tab markers to seperate the sections to make it easier to find. I even have sections for each store, being as I will get coupons for them and this way it makes it easier to see at a glance, versus thumbing through them. I was up till 7am finishing this.

I picked up the paper today and HOLY Grail of coupons! There were FIVE inserts and I nabbed up 4 papers. So I am taking a break from organizing for a bit. But wow, if I had not organized this earlier, I would have been overwhelmed today.

I’m still only picking up the best deals or ones that have coupons that expire. I was fortunate for the kids vitamins. The coupon expired next week and I checked to see if they were on sale and they were!! How cool is that? BUT damn it! I went through the Red Plum that came in on Weds and there was another coupon, which I had a Target coupon that expires this week that I can stack with, but I would prefer to done this when it was on sale. (This is WHY as soon as I get any sort of coupons, they should be filed immediately! LOL)

But the upside is, it’s done. It’s just more or less putting the new coupons away in the category. 😉

Extreme Couponing

Well, I bought two papers today since I missed Monday. And damn, they charge you MORE after Sunday. Normally, the paper would be $1.50, I got socked for $2 a paper. (Which after seeing some of the coupons, I may run back and buy two more…LOL)

This time, I figured I’d look through the flyers. Mainly Walgreens. And I’ll be damned, there is where I can save some crazy money! Pretty much everything they have on sale. I have a coupon for, from either today’s paper or previous.

For instance, Mead one subject and 5 subject notebooks are BOGO. Which I have a $3.00 off coupon for. *sweet* THEN Playtex Tampons are normally $7.49 36 ct box. Register rewards, you get $3.00 and then I have a $2.00 off coupon making it a final total of $2.49. I also noticed they have Tampax on sale, which damn, I just used my good coupons at Target and Pick. Which both were double coupons.

I guess I shouldn’t be too down on myself. At least I’m saving something right? But was there earlier and purchased Centrum Silver, it was buy one get one 1/2 off. I used a $2.00 coupon and had another one I didn’t even think to use. *argh* So I could have knocked it down to $26 versus paying $28. BUT I’m learning. They say it takes a few weeks to figure out where to go for the deals and what works.

I do plan to stock up on some of the more common things. Like TP, PT, laundry soap and on down the line. Being as winter is not too far away and to cut out some trips for these items, would be INCREDIBLY nice.

Which is why I need to get the basement in order in which to having a storing place for these items. Not sure which area I will use, but will be working on that in due time. 😉

School Shopping

Published August 12, 2011 by Sara

Well, we had full intentions of leaving at noon and ended up leaving about 2pm. I honestly thought we would only be there maybe 2 hours, 3 at the max. We JUST got home about 10pm. *yikes!*

But now my kids are set for school. Julia and Gwen still need a few more outfits, which those will come from the second hand store. Emily will only be picking out some shirts, since she found about 4 pairs of jeans that fit her. 2 of which came from the redlines and was 80% off. (Can’t get better than that right?) But everything in the store was 40% and I saved over $300. Which can’t get sweeter than that right? Especially for brand new clothes.

I always feel like emily somehow gets shortchanged, so I let her have a little fun letting her have a few more outfits. It’s sucks she’s the middle child and it seems sometimes she gets forgotten about or sometimes overlooked being as one sister has some issues going on while the other has hers and here’s Emily, the kid who sits on the sidelines not making a peep. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying she has it that rough, it just sometimes she does get overlooked and this little shopping excursion gives her her shining light. So besides her 4 pairs of jeans, she got 3 outfits as well. (BUT she accessorized) Julia got 2 dresses, 4 shirts, a skirt and 2 pairs of pants. (Most of which, hers came from the redline section. Emily’s was all 40% off.)

Honestly, I thought shopping at an Outlet Mall meant all the stores have good deals. Not necessarily.

We stopped at Rue 21 and their prices were about the same, but oh my goodness. Gwen and I are in love with this Rue 21. I am rather bummed though. They had this one awesome top that looked AWESOME on me, but sadly it was a large and ran rather small. I am totally hoping later tomorrow we can make a run to the mall to see if they have the top I wanted.

Then Sketchers. It was buy one get one 1/2 off. Julia got herself a pair of Twinkle Toe light up shoes and they are they cutest shoes ever! And then I finally got myself a pair of Shape Ups. Woot Woot! I have my generic pair I bought @ Target on clearance in Minnesota. They’re nice, but time to kick these up a notch or two. So i got the XST? Something like that.

Then Bath and Bodyworks, now that store had some AWESOME deals! I purchases some body wash, the girls got some body sprays. They were all 75% off. (1.25 – 3.00 each) BUT the hand soaps, were 5 for $15 and we so needed some more. I love that soap! So awesome at removing my polymer clay from my hands and if it cleans it that much when ordinary soap doesn’t do the trick, that is some kick ass soap!

Journey’s was the same price as the mall. *BOOO!*

But overall, the girls and I LOVE it there and will be back! I had only been to Johnson Creek Outlet and not this one. Bummer too, AFTER i left Sketchers, I could have received $5 off my purchase. And Ghiradelli, even though their items were severely discounted. I could have received an extra 20% off, but we didn’t make it back in time. I was worried buying the chocolate would melt in the car.

Next time we go out there. 😉 but now I have 14 J-bucks from Justice that I know we won’t use but am thinking of selling them on Ebay. At least get some money back and then it will be even less I spent at the store. (I figure about $35 is what the going rate could be, we shall see.) I need to check Ebay and see when they are going to run their penny auction listing fee again. 😉

Well, I have been stocking up on new supplies for my store, I spawned into a new idea of making light switch plates and i already have 3 people asking me if I make these to sell. *wow* Even Art was telling him he was really liking how Julia’s turned out. Which I plan to redo Emily’s and Gwen’s. But I had planned on making these to sell, which my original intent was not that. It was just to make these for my kids rooms. But looking at my vast stamp collection. I have so many other things to do. Plus I have learned a new technique to get the clay to be released from a stamp, being as I attempted this before and the smaller parts stayed inside the stamp. *How exciting!!* i just wish it wasn’t such a pain in the keister to start in the first place…..

I even finally made a trip out to Hobby Lobby to see what all the hype was about this store and really, I wasn’t “too” impressed. BUT the trip wasn’t in vain, being as I picked up a glass cutter and was finally able to cut my glass bottles that I was hoping to turn into glasses, maybe pen holders, vases, etc. The possibilities are endless.

And then I also got a Beginner’s Beadmaking Kit. Comes with everything I need to get started making my own glass beads. My friend Deidre has been AWESOME with helping me with questions and such. She is AWESOME! In fact she was JUST published in a glass working book. I hope someday I am featured. We shall see. Etsy can open so many possibilities for crafter’s.

I have even been thinking about creating my own tutorials and once I have a few together, I will see if I can get published. But I want to wait till I have enough unique ideas to make it worth while. (Honestly, I don’t see why I can’t, there are some books out there that I can not believe have EVER been published.)

And this ties in with my previous post. Normally I don’t try to hit up Michael’s so often, but since this week they have a 40% off coupon, I have been stocking up on the newer items they have from Lisa Pavleka. Molds and embossing cutters.

Now time to organize my work are, which I am quickly outgrowing. *sigh* I think I may take over the hutch in order to help me stay here on the main floor. I really love being up here around my family….

Coupons & Savings

Published August 11, 2011 by Sara

Well lately I have been taking an interest in couponing. You would think I would have been on this bandwagon YEARS ago, but sometimes, you just don’t know what you’re missing if you’re not aware.

Well, I have been savings my receipts, being as I plan to do a final tally at the end of the year. Maybe I may just keep a record in a binder so I am not hanging onto all these receipts.

The first time we went grocery shopping, we spent $250, but saved $80. Then today I took the kids school supply shopping and spent $61.00, but with coupons, knocked it down to $54. And some of those items I used double coupons on and some I even got for FREE! 3 packs of pens to be exact. One pack of PaperMate and 2 packs of Bic, the nice ones with the rubber grip. I had a Target Coupon and used a Manufacturer’s coupon. But when it comes to school supplies, we’re not going to have a lot of coupons for, even more so for the no name supplies. But this is the exact reason why I LOVE Target, I can double up on their coupons.

Then later on we stopped at Walmart, being as Target didn’t have the dry erase markers. And while looking at what the cost is for their supplies, I saved more at Target. Loose leaf paper was the same price. But colored pencils ad markers were .74 cents, whereas Target was .50 cents. I know there were other things we looked at and it just was surprising to find out the better deal was Target. I started doing this 2 years ago when I noticed Target is MUCH cheaper, just didn’t think it would have been the same way again.

And then made a trip to Pick N save since today is double coupon day and bought $50 worth of items and saved $22. Five of which were double coupons (which were $1.00 each for a total of $10.00). I forgot I even had a coupon for $1.50 of hamburger and since it was on sale. I got a little over 3 lbs for $9.40 before coupon. (Normally $14.50)

So while I am not really pulling in the savings quite yet. We are on our way. I just need to get a little more organized with my coupons or maybe get a bigger bill fold to store them in. My cousin uses a Trapper Keeper, but I want to carry them with me all the time and that would be a pita! IMO.
