New Glasses

Published October 26, 2012 by Sara

Well, I had an eye appt this week and turns out, I need glasses. *sigh* My vision isn’t too bad, but I am having a hard time looking at details, which I really need for my work.

At first I thought I needed just readers, then found out I also need computer glasses. And now with the new script for the bi-focals, turns out I need my distance corrected as well. It’s not horrible, but if I am going with progressive lens, then they are going to correct my distance as well.

I am not sure exactly how I feel about wearing glasses. Growing up I wanted to wear glasses so bad and now that I am older, I am not agaisnt wearing them. And the frames I picked out are awesome and I wouldn’t mind wearing everyday. But it’s going to be an adjustment.

I have checked into contacts and I can get that as well, but need to be fitted for them. But that is down the road. I may get them for the days I don’t feel like wearing glasses. But right now, one step at a time.

I went with the most basic lens there is, just to start out with.

For my computer glasses, I plan on going back to my eye doc and getting the ones my insurance will cover. I don’t need fabulous glasses and I don’t need them with the progressive lens, since I basically will be using these in my studio. It’s not like I plan on putting a fashion show…LOL It’s just me and sometimes my oldest daughter working in my studio. ūüėõ

I am hoping my glasses will be here soon. Right now, they will come in on the 6th, but I know I need to open my stores before then. I just hope I don’t make any errors in the meantime. I most likely will have my daughter double check orders for me in the meantime. ūüôā

Glade Expressions

Published October 23, 2012 by Sara

I received some coupons in the mail from BzzAgent to try out Glade’s new product line called Expressions.

I ran out to my local Target and picked them up. I was checking out the different scents they had to offer and I really love fresh clean scents. I was a little dissapointed to find that the diffuser was limited in what scents they offered. The one I did pick up was Fuji Apple with Cardamom Cinnamon.

I just feel apple scents are overdone and are too popular. I prefer to pick something that is a scent not too common and one that I will enjoy as well.

I feel in love with Cotton with Italian Mandarin and grabbed the fragrance mist in that scent.

Got home and set up my diffuser and WOW! When I would walk in the front door, you could smell it and this little gadget was 2 rooms away. I did enjoy the smell, even though I feel apple scents are overdone. And will pick up another one.

I really like the design for their diffuser as well and I LOVE that I don’t have to try and find an outlet to plug this into. And purchasing one goes a LONG way. So no need to me to pick them up for other rooms in the house, which is a HUGE plus in my book and my pocketbook for that matter!

The fragrance mist I have set up in the bathroom and it is amazing! I spray it once and the scent lasts a LONG time! Much longer than other mists I have used in the past. I love knowing in a quick pinch, if company is coming over. We can spray this in their and it will last the whole time they are here.

I used to purchase Glade products in the past, but had converted over to Bath and Bodyworks since they have a wider variety of fragrances. But with this new line from Glade, I do see that I will be using this. Even more so when they expand out their diffuser line.

Back To Basics

Now that I have caught up every snibble of laundry and have organized the clothes from summer to winter. I have envoked the kids doing laundry again. Julia is not thrilled, but like I told her with dishes, if it gets done every day, then it’s a breeze! (And she rocks at doing her turn for dishes.)

What I would give for these kids to have the washer and dryer I had growing up. Apartment size, you could wash one maybe 2 outfits at a time and not knowing when the washer and dryer were done and having to run downstairs to check.

They have it MADE! The washer is done in the time it takes to dry clothes, plus I have ¬†a monitor upstairs that tells you EXACTLY how much time is left and it will beep when each unit is finished. (Don’t you just love technology)

But it makes me wish to have them step back in time and just see how REALLY awful it can be.

Time To Get Ready

Published October 6, 2012 by Sara

I was on a roll! I got my studio mostly cleaned up and organized. I had big plans to work on the house this weekend and get our Halloween decorations up. But as in my previous post, the furnace gave me so much grief, that it’s after effects are trickling into today.¬†

I ran to Starbucks to give myself a jumpstart. And it’s working.¬†

I really need to get this house in order. The kids are in school. And when they are in school, it is so much easier to maintain the house.

And I forgot my friend’s son birthday party is today. But thankfully we have some time before we need to head out there.¬†

So it’s crunch time to see what I can accomplish before we leave for the¬†festivities.¬†

Thankfully, this is a 3 day weekend for me, but sadly not for the kids. So whatever I can’t get done today. I can squeeze in most on Sunday and the rest on Monday.

Friggin’ Furnace

Published October 6, 2012 by Sara

Really furnace, I love you. You make my house warm on cold days and allow us to not have to wear layers. But every year, without fail, I always forget to do the one thing that makes you work.

It was quite chilly yesterday. My husband asked me to turn on the furnace. Ok, simple task and I agreed, it was rather cold in the house and we could use some heat.

Run downstairs, turn on the gas, light the pilot, run back upstairs to turn the thermostat on. Here my lovely husband ALREADY turned it on. Which is a no no, since I am LIGHTING the furnace. Explain to him, the thermostat stays OFF while I am down there.

Start the WHOLE procedure over AGAIN. Still nothing.

So I start researching and seeing what it could be. Oh maybe the pilot light is clogged. So I run to Wally World to get an aspirator and new filter. Come home, clean it, still nothing.

I post on Facebook my dilemna.

My friend Bill responds and tells me to shut the circuit breaker off, turn it back on. Jump the Rh to W, check fuses, etc etc. Suffice to say, still nothing. Now mind you, it’s going on 3am in the morning and I am just cold. (Doesn’t help I was in my studio all day and my stubborn butt refused to turn the heat on being as I figured I could tough through it)

Well, Bill says it may be the blower motor. (NOOOOO!! I am seeing the money just fly out of my savings.) And that he will get me his friends number who works in HVAC for MPS, but he couldn’t find it, but would get it to me on Monday. Ok, no biggie, we can tough through this. It’s not insanely cold. We’ll just wear layers right? So I throw on some sweats and burrow down under some blankets.¬†

Wake up this morning and I feel like I have been hit by a Mac Truck. *sigh* Was telling my husband all the things I tried last night that my friend Bill suggested.

My husband stops and looks at me, “Did you flip the power switch?”

I jump up and run downstairs, flip the switch and VAVOOF! The burners kick on.

So what have I learned this cold season? The same thing I do EVERY god forsaken cold season, turn the switch on. But every season, I forget, as well as my husband. SO, I have been sitting here thinking of what I can do to remind myself of that single switch that holds the power to it all.

I will write some instructions for myself and put it inside the furnace. This way next year, I know ALL the steps and will not forget that little switch…
