Influenster : Product Reviews

Published May 31, 2012 by Sara

Disclaimer : I have not had the chance to test out ALL the product I received, but I will update this blog and also reblog it each time I have tested a new product.

Now for the photos :

Salon Nail Effects

I really really wished I was able to do a photo step by step on how this works, but alas, I can not find my small Canon pocket camera. And I have others of this product, so when I do this again, I will show how it’s done. 🙂

I am inbetween Salon Effects. It’s easy to do and it does last for awhile, being as I put my hands through so much abuse, I’m lucky if I can get normal nail polish to stay on for more than 3 days. My toenails fare better with nailpolish rather then my findernails. But it does take a bit to remove this when you do decide to take it off. Soak your nail in one of those containers for maybe about a minute and you’re good to go. BUT this time I have the glitter and any female should know, glitter is a pain in the $#%^ to take off.

I do like Salon Effects, but the only way I will purchase it, is if it’s on sale or I have a coupon. Normal retail is just a bit too pricey for me.

Bath and Bodyworks Body Mist : Moonlight Path

They ROCK for sending me this! I absolutely LOVE Moonlight Path, it’s my absolute favorite scent from BB. It has a fresh clean scent, which I prefer clean scents over fruity or musky. (Although I am a die hard fan of Winter Candy Apple…LOL)

Chapstick 365

Tested it a few times, will know more as I continue. But it feels really nice on my lips and has a very pleasant smell, kinda makes me think of lemons citrusy kinda smell. In the winter is when I suffer from severe chapped lips, and then that will be the true test right there. But judging by how it feels now, I am almost certain it will work.

Also, I love the ide of protecting my lips from UV rays. We have it for the face in about every female product out there, why not for the lips too?

Soyjoy

I shared this with everyone in my family and they all didn’t like it, but I did. It made me think of a fig newton. My kids and husband are not soy lovers. I don’t mind it. I am not sure if I will purchase this seperately apart from trying it. I said retails about $1.00 – $1.69. Maybe if I find a box of them or an awesome deal at Sam’s. I could then see having these in the house for that quick on the go snack.

Aveeno Body Wash

Not yet tested

SheerCover Concealer

I tested it on the back of my hand and the coverage seems phenomenal. But I want to try it the proper way before completing my review.

Dr Scholl’s Ball of Foot For Her

I haven’t tested this yet. I rarely wear heels, but will be trying to set a day in which I can try these and give a proper review.

Once Upon A Time Earrings

Published May 31, 2012 by Sara

I had a buyer contact me about making a smaller version of the book charm and instantly I thought of how perfect this would be to make earrings!! I am totally digging how these turned out. Which I also plan to revisit redoing the book in the next week or so. I just want it to look much cleaner and I think I may have figured that out.

Can’t Bear It….

Published May 20, 2012 by Sara

My Uncle is sick, really sick. He has Heptocellular Carcinoma (Liver Cancer) and Cirhossis of the liver, both of which are highly treatable on their own, but with the two combined, make for a very lethal combination.

We were hoping to go for a visit over the summer, which still may happen, but not to see my Uncle. Right now, we are into the countdown. He’s still alert, but he doesn’t follow conversation very well and at times, rarely knows who he is talking to. I called him the other day and it was so sad, I don’t think he even knew who he was talking to, being as if he knew, he would have said, “Well hey there Sarie!” And I would reply back with, “Well, how ya doing Uncle Stuie?”

I am such a bundle of emotions and memories that aren’t even related to him are coming. I’ve been thinking a lot about when I was a kid living in Seattle and playing in my front yard. I’ve been thinking about my Mom, which has been coming up a lot on conversation with my cousin Brian. He lost his Mom, I lost mine, now we’re losing his Dad, my Uncle. Which sadly, sounds like I had a great relationship with him versus his son. But there are always two sides to every story and I am not sure just how much Brian is embellishing on.

Which now makes me feel bad for our parents upbringing, which this came up a lot when my Mom was dying.

They had it rough, all of them, with the exception of my Aunt Carol. She was adopted by my Aunt Glennie (whom I always called Grandma), when she was a newborn. My Uncles and my Mom had to fend for themselves growing up, that is until the state removed my Mom. Then my Uncles decided there was no need for them to stick around and they ran away from home.

But I love, how even though they had it rough. How they all stayed in touch and were incredibly close despite their circumstances.

So I really won’t be blogging too much since I just have way too much going on my end. But I could never feel more trapped and helpless by not being able to go to Minnesota to see my Uncle, which whom I kinda looked at him like a father, in some way.

I do plan to post my review for the Vox Box I got in the mail of goodies and free samples. 🙂

Pending Vacation..

Published May 15, 2012 by Sara

I have reopened my stores, but the day after I opened, I found out my Uncle is dying. So how long my stores will remain open is iffy since I am hearing conflicting stories, but it is imminent regardless.

But any orders I get until the stores go on vacation again, will be fulfilled.

Book Review : House of Evil

Published May 10, 2012 by Sara

I am not done with this book, but I really need to get this off my chest. This has been by FAR the hardest true crime story I have read yet.

The amount of abuse this girl went through while she stayed with this evil woman and her 7 children. Not to mention the kids that were coming over to visit, they ALL tortured this poor girl. (She had a younger sister that was living in this house as well, but she had only been hurt a handful of times and nothing as close as to what her sister experience.)

She lived there for only 15 weeks (one week shy of 4 months) and she was dead, from the brutal abuse that she went through, from being tripped down the stairs, to being body slammed to the point her kidney’s had failed and she could not control her bladder, to which she was punished for that, she was forced to take scalding hot baths to the point in which her skin was falling off, they burned her with cigarettes and this is only SOME of her abuse.

Shortly before she died, they had branded on her stomach with a safety pin and carved into her skin, “I’m a prostitute and I’m proud of it!” Also, they had burned a 3 into her chest, which was suppose to be S, but they messed up the links. When she was found, ALL her fingernails were broken from her scratching the ground/floor from pain.

I have been meaning to read this book for quite some time. I originally watched the movie , “The Girl Next Door” which made me wonder if this was based on a true story and I had started to find out exactly what happened. I know there is another movie called “An American Crime” which looks vaguely familiar, but the movie I know I did see, doesn’t even cover the abuse Sylvia suffered.

While reading this, I wanted to cry, no one should EVER be tormented the way she was. At times I wanted to scream “STOP!” But it would not accomplish a thing. I have read other True Crime stories in the past and this one just is REALLY hard to read.

I may update this review once I am finished, but I don’t think there will be much else to say since I am reading the court proceedings now.

This story alone is why I would not want to be a detective. Something that I have been fascinated with since I was a teenager. My husband says I should, but really, I don’t want to be on call and when you work a case, you’re on it till it’s solved. I think I’d rather be CSI or Forensics, you may still be on call, but you don’t have to have the schedule like a detective.
